Kindred — Find the Right Homeschool Curriculum for Your Child

Terms of Service

Effective September 13, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Kindred for using https://kindred.school, the Find Your Match tool, and your Kindred account. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your family's information.

1. Who can use Kindred

You must be at least 18 and the parent or legal guardian of any child whose information you enter. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details private and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else is using it.

2. What Kindred is (and is not)

Kindred gives you learner profiles, a planner and progress log, a curriculum directory with the Find Your Match tool, a compliance manager, a transcript builder, and an ESA eligibility checker. It is a planning and record-keeping tool. It is not legal, educational, medical, or psychological advice, and it does not replace your own judgment about your child.

  • Curriculum matches are suggestions scored from the answers you give and the information providers publish. Providers change their products and prices; check with them before you buy.
  • State compliance and ESA information is general guidance that may be incomplete or out of date. You are responsible for meeting the requirements of your own state and program.
  • Transcripts, reports, and exports are generated from the data you enter. You are responsible for their accuracy and for how you use them.
  • AI features can make mistakes. Review what they produce before you rely on it.

3. Plans, free trial, and Founding Family pricing

  • Free plan: core features at no charge, with limits shown on the pricing page.
  • Free trial: new families get a 7-day trial of the Pro plan when they finish onboarding. No card is needed, nothing is charged, and when the trial ends your account moves to the free plan unless you subscribe. One trial per family.
  • Paid plans (Plus, Pro, Homestead): billed monthly or annually, as you choose at checkout, through Stripe. Prices are in U.S. dollars and shown on the pricing page.
  • Founding Family pricing: the first 200 families to start a paid subscription lock in the Founding Family price for as long as their subscription stays active without interruption. If you cancel and later resubscribe, standard pricing applies. [JAMEY TO REVIEW: confirm what happens to Founding Family status on plan changes, failed payments, and cancel/resubscribe]

4. Billing, renewals, cancellation, and refunds

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. We charge the payment method on file through Stripe, and Stripe emails your receipts.
  • Cancel any time from Settings → Manage Billing. You keep paid access until the end of the period you already paid for; we do not charge again after that.
  • Refunds: [JAMEY TO REVIEW: state the refund policy, e.g. 'annual plans may be refunded within 14 days of first purchase; otherwise payments are non-refundable except where the law requires'].
  • Failed payments: if a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries the card and emails you. If it still fails, the subscription is cancelled, your account moves to the free plan, and your data stays in place. [JAMEY TO REVIEW: confirm the Stripe dunning/retry settings match this]
  • Price changes: we will give at least 30 days' notice by email before a price change takes effect on your next renewal. Founding Family prices do not change while your subscription stays active. [JAMEY TO REVIEW: confirm the 30-day notice commitment]
  • Taxes: the price shown is the price you pay. If we are ever required to collect sales tax in your state, it will be shown at checkout before you confirm. [JAMEY TO REVIEW: confirm the sales-tax position; checkout does not collect tax today]

5. Your content and your data

Everything you enter — your family details, your children's learning profiles, logs, work samples, and records — belongs to you. You give us permission to store, process, and display it only so we can run Kindred for you (including sending it to the service providers named in the Privacy Policy). You can export it or delete your account at any time from Settings. We do not sell it.

6. Acceptable use

Please do not:

  • Enter information about a child you are not the parent or legal guardian of.
  • Share your account, or use the Student View link for anything other than your own children.
  • Scrape, copy, or resell the curriculum directory, provider reviews, or match results.
  • Try to break, overload, or get around the security of the service.
  • Use Kindred for anything unlawful or to harass anyone.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

7. Text message (SMS) program

If you tick the consent box on signup, Kindred will send you occasional tips and reminders by text at the mobile number you provide. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time and HELP for help, or email info@kindred.school. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

8. Kindred's content and third-party providers

The Kindred name, logo, software, match engine, provider reviews, and site content are ours or licensed to us. You may use them only as part of using the service. Curriculum providers listed in the directory are independent companies; we do not sell their products, and links to them are provided for convenience.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Kindred is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any curriculum, plan, or compliance guidance will suit your child or satisfy any authority. To the fullest extent the law allows, Kindred and its owners are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some states do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. [JAMEY TO REVIEW: have counsel confirm the disclaimer and liability cap wording]

10. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Kindred and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering the service; in the last case we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your data. Sections 5, 8, 9, and 11 continue to apply after the agreement ends.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Mississippi without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If we have a disagreement, please email us first so we can try to sort it out. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Mississippi, and you and Kindred both agree to that venue. [JAMEY TO REVIEW: decide whether to add an arbitration clause and class-action waiver]

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms as Kindred grows. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Kindred afterwards means you accept the new terms. Questions: info@kindred.school.
